Low fog
A white blanket that clings to the floor and turns a stage, a studio or a pitch into a sea of clouds. Pyred designs and operates low fog for festivals, TV, stadium ceremonies and events.
Smoke that stays on the floor.
Where you have seen it
- Festivals: walls of low-lying and jet smoke at Transmission, and low-lying smoke on the stages of Untold Dubai, Kamping Kitsch and Hype-O-Dream
- Stadium ceremonies: low-lying smoke rolled across the pitch for the scenes on the ground at the opening of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025
- TV: a studio floor full of low fog, with cold sparks (Sparkular) behind it, for Game of Talents
Good to know
- Low fog stays low because it is colder than the air around it; it spreads over the floor and then fades away
- It works best indoors or with little wind; draught and wind blow the cloud away
- The cloud takes the colour of the light: white, purple, red, whatever the lighting designer chooses
- We prepare it per venue, including the fire detection, and operate it with our own technicians
Frequently asked questions
Is low fog the same as haze?
No. Haze hangs in the air so that light and laser beams become visible; low fog stays on the floor. See CO₂ jets and smoke.
Can low fog be used outdoors?
Yes, when there is little wind, as on the pitch in Qatar. We judge it on the day.
Can low fog be combined with other effects?
Yes. It works well under cold sparks (Sparkular), flames and lasers, all from one team.
